Before I kicked off this weeks assignment, I remember myself making an account for wikipedia because I had a slick feeling that we would be doing something else related to wikipedia pages. I knew that we could make edits and changes and when I found out we were I was kind of excited to try it out and see what would happen. It still probably won’t change my views on the website but I was interested to trying out something I have never done before. My article of choice was the Atlanta Falcons wikipedia page. I wanted to pick this page because I am a die hard fan of this team and I have a deep knowledge and understanding of this team, players, and the franchise itself. I had prior knowledge that this page would have some decent information about them but there was also some recent stuff that could be added such as rivalries and memorable players. Once I finished looking at the entire page, I noticed there were some missing sections that could be added such as rivalries, individual player awards, and ring of honor players. The layout of the page was decently strong and had details about where they play, what their uniforms look like, who their coach is, and when they were founded. My main goal of this assignment was to be helpful and provide some more helpful information to add to the wikipedia page and having reliable resources to back them up. Before I suggested what to add or edit the page I went over the procedures that were provided on the canvas page and went from there. I had to make it known that I was extremely new to editing wikipedia pages. Looking at the talk page I did see that the wikipedia community is very tight and there is a bunch of collaboration. I unfortunately did not get responses when I placed my suggestions. After a couple of days went by I decided to check the page again but his time I noticed my suggestion was added. This made me feel happy knowing my suggestion was considered and it was eventually put on the page. Overall the experience of editing wikipedia was definitely an interesting one. My views as to wikipedia still remain the same. It won’t be my first primary use for resources because of the way that it can changed at a very quick rate. I really do like how much collaboration is included on wikipedia pages though. My appreciation for using accurate citations has only gotten bigger. This assignment in general really helped me realize and understand that wikipedia is not only made for reading materials. People create pages and keep it updated regularly. Making any contribution big or small definitely made me feel like I had some impact on the information I found online and helped change the page.
